Andalucia - Costa Del Sol
Situated in the far south of Spain Andalucia and its holiday coastline the Costa del Sol is a land of ancient and modern contrasts. The chic coastal resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banus epitomise the modern, while in contrast the ancient cities of the interior, Granada, Seville and Cordoba have their roots steeped in ancient Moorish culture. This is a vibrant land of year round sunshine, colourful fiestas and that most passionate of dances – the flamenco.

Map of Andalucia

The Costa del Sol – the coast of the sun rises from the east of Malaga down to Gibraltar in the west. Some of Europe’s best known and famous resorts are situated on these very busy sun drenched destinations - Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella etc. Golfers are spoilt for choice with over 50 courses in the region including famous venues such as Valderama – the only venue outside the U.K to stage the Ryder cup. Behind the coast are beautiful mountains sheltering the south facing coast from any cold winds in winter. It is in the hills and mountains behind the coast that you will still find the traditional white washed villages and towns of the original Vandalia – a welcome relief from the sweltering coast.

Malaga the principle city of the Costa Del Sol is also its prime gateway. The large airport now undergoing major expansion is the destination of schedule, chartered and budget airlines from all the UK major airports and is served by dozens of daily flights throughout the year.

There is also a new high-speed rail line linking Malaga to most of the major cities of Spain including Madrid and Barcelona.
Climate - What to Expect
Malaga has a superb all year climate with more than 300 days of sun throughout the year. The summer months of June – September can be very hot especially July and August when the temperature can exceed 35 C or more and rainfall in these months can be negligible. The Spring months of March – May and November are a delight – warm sunshine and a temperature rarely outside the 20 – 25 range. A few showers and occasional days of rain can be expected. The winter months of December – Feb offer an excellent escape from the worst of the UK winter with temperatures varying between 15 - 21 degrees. A few showery days can be expected and an occasional extended period of unsettled weather is possible in winter however you can expect regular long spells of warm weather in the depths of winter.
